PLAYGROUND: OUR UNIQUE TRILINGUAL LANGUAGE PROGRAM
Welcome to
MandarinArts Playground is our trilingual immersion program—Mandarin and Spanish, with a sprinkling of English—designed for kids 2 to 5 years to learn and play in a nurturing, full immersion environment. Playground is a program designed to help children acquire languages organically. We include carefully planned themed learning with corresponding projects, activities, arts and crafts, and story time. All enrichment activities are included and range from music and dance, to theater and acting, games, Chinese calligraphy and writing, as well as cultural education and activities. MandarinArts Playground is essentially one giant language based enrichment program. Taught by a team of highly experienced native teachers who specialize in teaching Chinese and Spanish languages to American kids, Playground is the preschool alternative program with all the extras you have been searching for. If you find preschools lacking, our unique language program may be the answer you're looking for. Limited spots available, and enrollment is first come, first served. Playground Options
Option 1: Tue/Thu, 2 days a week, 8:30 am - 12 pm
Option 2: Mon/Wed/Fri, 3 days a week, 8:30 am to 12 pm
8:30-9:00 am: Drop Off Period / Quiet Montessori style table time (self study / play before morning classes begin)
9:00-9:20 am: Morning Circle Stretching Exercises - Taught in Chinese Mandarin
9:20-10:00 am: Mandarin Lesson - Themed Learning: Projects, Activities, Counting (theme changes every 7 weeks)
10:00-10:20 am: Snack Time / Bathroom Break
10:20-10:25 am: Clean up, line up, move to dance studio for enrichment activity
10:25-10:55 am: Enrichment: Music / Cultural Dance Movements (Mandarin / Spanish - rotate)
10:55-11:00 am: Line up, move back to language studio, prepare for next activity
11:00-11:40 am: Spanish Lesson - Themed Learning: Projects, Activities, Counting (themes change every 7 weeks, aligned with Mandarin lesson)
11:40-12:00 pm: Rotate between Arts & Craft, Chinese Calligraphy, Story Time, Cultural Education and Activities
12:00 pm: Goodbye
PLAYGROUND PROGRAM YEAR:
Winter 2023/24 Semester (12 weeks): Nov 27 to Dec 15 AND Jan 8 to March 8. (3 weeks Winter holiday break from Dec 18 to Jan 7)
Spring 2024 (12 weeks): March 18 to June 7
SUMMER CAMP 2024 (optional for Playground students): June 17 to Aug 23
Fall 2024 Semester (12 weeks): Sept 2 to Nov 22
Winter 2024/25 Semester (12 weeks): Dec 2 to Dec 20 AND Jan 6 to March 7. (2.5 weeks Winter holiday break from Dec 23 to Jan 5)
* NOTE - 2024 Summer Camp (optional for Playground students) will be from June 17 to Aug 23 for a total of 10 weeks for the Encino location. Minimum 2 weeks enrollment for camp is required. Go to "Summer camp" webpage for details and sign-ups starting Feb 2024 when camp enrollment begins!
All kids are required to be a minimum of 2 years old by the first day of class to be eligible for enrollment into the MandarinArts Playground program. Upon acceptance, all students are automatically enrolled for Playground's full program year of 36 weeks. Program year is divided into three semesters of 12 weeks each. Summer camp is not included, but is available and optional as a separate summer camp registration.
Class withdrawals are not allowed in the middle of a semester and no fees will be refunded if a student leaves in the middle of a semester for any reasons. Withdrawals are only permitted with a minimum of 30 days written notice (emails are fine), and it only takes effect for an upcoming semester (not in the middle of an ongoing semester).
Option 1, Tue/Thu (2 days a week): $1,980 per semester (12 weeks per semester)
Option 2, Mon/Wed/Fri (3 days a week): $2,680 per semester (12 weeks per semester)
Please Note:
A non-refundable application fee of $75 (waived for existing MandarinArts students) is due upon submission of application
A student enrollment fee of $350 (existing MandarinArts students receive 50% off) is due upon acceptance of application
Refundable Deposit: There is a $500 fully refundable deposit, refundable upon providing a mandatory 30 days written withdrawal notice while being in good standing. Deposit will be forfeited if a student withdraws in the middle of an ongoing semester, or without providing a written 30-day notice while in good standing.
